Brakes

Has anyone in Broncoland done any kind of upgrades to their brakes? If so, what and how have the upgrades worked? I have a 1996, and my brakes are all new, but still don't compare to the ones in my 1997 Chevy Tahoe. I'd like to try to cut my stopping distance down some!

Thanks.

I have a 90 Bronco EB that I just put a rear-end on, that I had rebuilt for an 89 Bronco. It's the ford 8.8" rear that was converted from drums to rotors. The shop cut the axle flanges off that hold the drum parts, then welded on ford 9" rear flanges to hold the calipers, which are holding in the axles. Basically I got rid of the C-clips. New Dutchman Motor Sport axles, Eaton limited slip posi, 4.10 gear ratio, & rotors. I stayed with the 8.8" rearrr-end so I could retained the RABS.

I replaced the master cylinder with one from a one ton truck and replaced the front pads with heavy duty ones, the parts department showed two types for the Bronco. All helped out quite a bit.

Had the oppertunity to test it out a couple of days ago. Driving down surface street following somebody getting ready to make a left turn at the signal. All of a sudden the iddiot in front of me decides to slam on his breaks and turns left a 100ft before the signal. I stopped almost on a dime, and then had to check my shorts & seat & calling the few names on the way. But they work.

Hope this helps
