I have a 2000 PSD 2wd with a 6 speed! When drive down the road and coming to a stop sign or a stop I light, when i push in the clutch the tack drops to below 500 then right back up! It doesn't do it all the time but enough to notice it. I really haven't paid attention before a couple of week ago. So I was wondering if this was normal is there something wrong!
Mine does this to. Only if you were engine braking or drifting into a stop sign or stop light with the truck in gear. The idle dips down to about 500 but instantly comes right back up to 650 as soon as you push the clutch in. As long as it doesnt stop on ya or do it while under load I think your fine.
I believe when the injectors cut out while drifing into a stop sign while in gear and when you engage the clutch, the Pcm is detecting to start firing all of the injectors again and maintain idle.
If you are going through the gears while up-shifting with the engine under load, I bet it does not do this. ( For me anyway).
One other thing, If you are feeling like the truck is sticking in gear when this dip in the idle occurs or the slave/master cylinder is sluggish, the clutch may not be disengaging the as fast as it used to. But you would have trouble shifting everytime if this happened.
Keep posted here as there may be another user who has an opinion on this.
