timing chain deflection

what is the maximium timing chain deflection for a 94 f 150 with a 5.0L?

I think 1/2 inch on the slack side, assuming you have the timing cover taken off already. If not, turn the engine in one direction until you reach the TDC mark, then pop off the distributor cap and watch the rotor as you turn the engine the opposite direction. As soon as you see the rotor start to turn, stop turning the engine and make note of how many degrees the crankshaft was turned. The limit is 4 or 5 degrees.

it has just over a half inch. i checked the price of a new one its only 55 bucks just gonna change it anyway
