i know i'm not going to get good MPG....thats fine....i'm ok with that....
has anyone ever gotten 100 miles to 1/2 a tank?????
i'm a grandpa when driving...i get into high gear by 40 mph and it stays there....never hard on the skinny pedal at all...i seriously take it easy all the time...i've consistantly gotten 150 to 165 miles to a 1/2 a tank and now since the last fill up i'm at 102 miles and i'm on 1/2....
any suggestions???
could the gas do it or should i monitor this clostly and see if their is a patter for my next fill up in 100 miles....
I have an FX4 with the 5.4L, and they are thirsty engines. Before I added my Edge box, I was getting about 12.5mpg. I am now averaging about 13.1-13.3mpg with the box.It seems thats all the better it will get. You did not specify which engine you have, although judging from your post, I would guess the 5.4L. Those with the 4.6L engines fair better in the MPG area, but lack in the power and towing capacity area. I suppose its a give-and-take situation?
my problem with is is that i drive the same roads day in and day out the same way every time....light on the skinny one.....and i've always gotten 150 to 165 miles to a 1/2 a tank and this last one i'm at 100 miles to the same 1/2 a tank.....with not changes in driving style....no load in the bed....same roads exc......
what could cause 50 to 65 miles less in thats same 1/2 a tank???
200 miles to my tank comes out to be like 9 mpg.....no way anyone on this earth is going to tell me thats normal for a totally unloaded truck that got 15 mpg last tank and nothings different???
I just did a test to see what I could get, and at half a tank I had 320 km's, which is close to 200 miles. The reason I did this test was to see what I could actually get when babying the truck. Unfortunately I did get stuck in traffic on my way home from work the other day, and I've done some city driving (mostly highway though), so that would have knocked the mpg down a tad.
If I did straight highway I'd be willing to bet I could easily get over 700 km's (440 milies) per tank, straight highway.
I don't know why your mpg are down. Has it been cold where you are? Are you sure you've been driving the exact same style as you always do with the same amount of time sitting at lights, stop and go etc etc? Was your last fill up at the same gas station you always use? There could be many variables. I wouldn't worry about it at this point, but keeping an eye on it won't hurt.
Someone siphoning gas around your neighborhood? Its not easy with the antisiphon nozzles but there is still some equipment that will do the job. We might have to consider buying those blasted locking caps again. Or you may have a fuel leak. If you had a fuel filter installed recently check to see if its leaking around the filter.
Perhaps your local gas distributor upped the ethanol content? The higher the ETOH the lower the MPG. However, I wouldn't expect regular unleaded with 15% ETOH to be that bad. I got those numbers (9-10 MPG) running E85 on my Screw.
Well thats about what i;m getting but i am a little heavy on the pedalat times..lol
my truck only has 2,800 miles on it....hardly ready for a tune up yet...
so, this morning i come outside and get into the truck and i'm only a little under 3/4 of a tank.....and yesterday when i got home i was at 1/2 a tank...
WOW, 100 miles for a half of tank thats ridiculous, I have really been trying to get good gas mileage lately and i have been getting about 360-365miles per tank about 165-180 when i hit half a tank. Man i dunno, hope you get it settle though.
When did you fill up? It may have been in slosh mode which can take some driving time to read full. Some models take up to 55 minutes to read full once slosh mode is activated. That is 55 minutes of run time, so you might drive 11 minutes for 5 days. It may be a contaminated fuel sender but if you only have 2800 miles that would mean you are getting some nasty fuel where ever you fillup or a rare defect. Only way to know is go to the dealer and let them retrieve codes.
2800 miles isnt even a broke in engine yet either. Economy will improve over the next year little at a time.
