Chapter Membership

I just got word we are limited to membership to our chapter. This is a good and positive thing. If we have a sponsor who wants to host a event, contest,or give away in our state or another state we will know excatly who are members and we will be able to tell that sponsor or Fte can say how many members are in that state.

We will be able to visit other state threads and post there without any problems. If there are any questions please pm or email me and I will answer them.

This is not about restricting participation. People don't have to be a member to post in a chapter. Its main purpose is to have membership lists which reflect the local nature of the chapter. It give us (and CLs) many advantages such as:

1. Having a more accurate picture of the number of folks in your region who are interested and/or active in the chapter.
2. It will allow us to send legislative alerts to those impacted by pending automotive related legislation, while not sending it to those who aren't impacted.
3. In regards to #2, it will also allow us to do contests, offers, giveaways, group buys, etc., that are regional in nature. For instance, if a vendor is doing a dyno day we can notify chapter members who are more likely to be close enough to actually attend.
4. It encourages users to keep their user record up to date if they move to a new region and wish to join a new chapter (you'd be surprised at how many folks don't update user records with new email addresses, locations, etc.).

We've wanted to do this for a while. Unfortunately, there is no delicate way to handle it without someone taking it the wrong way.... that's not our intent in the least. Please assure members and non-members they are all welcome to post in your chapters. <!-- KEN: 1-13-2007: show 300x250 ad-block to non-Club FTE users in the 1st post of every page --><!-- / Ken, end of hack --><!-- / message --><!-- no sigs except when logged in --><!-- sig --> __________________
