I have a full size 85 bronco with a 300inline six and a NP-435 tranny. I rebuilt and put new everything under the hood including clutch kit two years ago. Recently it started throwing itself out of third gear mostly under load but it was drivable but had to climb in second if i hit any hills. Shifted easily with a finger or two ..like butter other than that third gear issue.Took it in for a rebuild and he put in a bearing kit and syncro kit all the gears were fine he said. Now it shift like crap and down shifting into secont from third is terrible some grinding and almost have to be at a stop for it to fall all the way into second. The up shift to third can be tricky like its not sure where the hole it i have to hit it exactly and you can feel the shift hits something before it falls completely in place every time. Im getting told that this is normal and it needs to be driven for a week or two and it will smooth out. Ive called and talked to some other shops and they tell me this in incorrect that it should drive like new if it was a full build. My mechanic just laughed at me and said a was getting the "shaft" by this guy. Any input from someone who knows this tranny and what it should drive like after a build i could sure use some solid advice about what to do here....THANKS...

 

i would think it should drive like new.
