thanks again, i think im going to find one of those 7.3s iv heard other good things about them as well like they are pretty simple to work on and they also handle WVO very well. and if the 6.4s prove themselves ill have to pick one up later down the line because i really like the interior in them.

100% Biodiesel.
The "B" stands for biodiesel and the number is the percent of Bio diesel to Dino diesel.
B20 = 20% Bio to 80% dino for instance.
B5 = 5% bio to 95% dino and so on.

Have they been doing it for a long time? I heard that the injectors turn the bio into some sort of plastic that clogs the nozzles if the injection pressure gets too high like on the 6.0 and common rail systems.
That could be mis-information, I'm just going on what I have heard.

never heard this before. right off hand, FIRESOUTMATT, runs b100 in his 6.0 and has around 30k plus on it. he pops in my head first because he was asking some injector questions because he had some go (probably fuel pressure issue in my opinion). he seems to love it and will fight you on it if you second guess him, lol , and he dont back down. i know there are some others doing it and i praise what they are doing. i wish more people would run bio and wish fomoco would approve more the b5, but i know it is due to the inconsistencies and "ungoverned" fuel producers out there.

I hear you about the ungoverned part. I fix VW and Audi for a living and have gained a reputation in the TDI club that I am a good shop to come to. So I get to see first hand the different effects of the fuel on the EGR equipped diesel engines. The deposits on the inside of the intake manifold range anywhere from a black powdery substance from burning B-0 to black plastic-looking to black slime from burning other fuels.
And I find it VERY ironic that at just about the time that diesel engine powered vehicles are starting to have a lot of demand here in the US, then the EPA regulations force them back out of the market again. I have one customer who has modified his old VW Dasher to be able to cold start on SVO and has been driving it that way for years. It scores a 0% in the opacity test that is required for license renewal here in Washington state. Whenever he takes it out of town and has to fill up on dino then it smokes like a chimney because it has been modified for the SVO. (Pump set higher inside.) The thing is smoke free on the SVO, but the fuel is not standardized so EPA won't allow it.
I could write a small book on my observations on this subject but I had better stop now to avoid a thread highjack.

1997 Hands Down. Find one with low miles and you have a winner.

You know, I'm the direct opposite. I like the big blocky style. It's all what your prefer. They are basically the same truck.

Note: Their is more room in the 99 and newer. Your 97 has the twin I beam front. I think the solid axles are bullet proof. I also like the 97 body style, I've been looking for a 97 crew cab short bed f350 (solid Axel) for a hunting rig (second truck) but their hard to find around here....

the '97 in my opinion has by far the best body style, but it's all up to you! any 7.3 psd or late 6.0's are good, but the 7.3's are proven... not many 6.0's with 200+k miles on em yet
