'69 Long Bed

Hey guys, I've just inherited a '69 F100 Long Bed from my grandad and am about to start restoring it. It is ALL original, 240 I6, 2wd, 3 spd on the column. Most all of the body is in good shape, but I am afraid the bed is in pretty bad condition. How hard are these boxes to come by? Would I be better off building my own custom wood bed, and using the side panels that are still good? I'm open to any ideas! Thanks!

Aaron, A lot depends on where you are located, and that is?

Aaron, I would think that you should be able to find good sheetmetal in Alabama. It may take some scrounging. Craigslist is a good source and I would look west to Texas.

If you had posted northeast it would be a different story. Don't expect to find one in a week, but don't get discouraged either.

good luck

John

Thanks for the input, I'm not in any hurry, that's for sure. I've got enough cleanup / prep work on the rest of the truck to last me a year!

Aaron another rout you can go is with bed patch panels. Several companies offer them and it takes some welding. Good luck and enjoy your new truck.
