98EXPY 1-2 Shift problem??
My 98 4x4 XLT EXPY with the 5.4L has 150K miles. I recently replaced both bank 1 O2 sensors and reset the CEL by disconnecting the battery. Prior to the O2 replacement, I noticed that the first-to-second shift was a bit rough. After reseting the CEL, the 1-2 shift is VERY noticable. No clunking but a definite jerk. The transmission shifts normally to 1st from Park and 2nd and from 2-3 and 3-4 normally. The 1-2 **** happens with the throttle open about 30%. When I ease on the throttle, the shift is not as jerky. A tranny flush has had no favorable result. The CEL and O/D lights are not on.
Any ideas? Are the shift patterns being relearned because I disconnected the battery? Should I replace the Throttle Position Sensor? Can this sensor be cleaned?

I am not sure which transmission you have but you might have the problem that I just wrote about on the 4R100 transmission solutions. A flush would not remove the metal that I had to scrub off with a brush...and it took about three scrubbings with Dawn detergent to remove the gunk.
