The Wifes Truck didn't want to Start yesterday, turn the key and clunk and that was it. 97 Ford Explorer 5.0 AWD, with 160,000 miles.
I did the Jack up the truck and tap on the starter Motor with a Hammer and now she's starting up fine again for now.
My question is How much more can you get out of a starter when they start to act up like this?
When I drive the truck I have noticed on startup the starter does take a dip in turning over every now and then. I mentioned this to the wife and asked her to listen for this
And to let me know if she notices this on starting the truck.
I am thinking let it go for the summer months and have it fixed in Fall before the cold winter weather sets in.
Replace it, it's about due. You don't want to suffer to consequences of your wife getting stranded somewhere, summer or winter, if you know what I mean.
