Diesel leaking from the return lines

I have been having a problem with diesel leaking from the return lines on my 1993 IDI. It still runs good but I gete to smell the diesel and the fuel is leaking enough to wash the oil off the engine and stain the driveway. I was wondering if I need to replace the injectors or it just a set of seals or O-rings would also fix the problem. I have had the truck since new and have had to do nothing to the engine execpt glow plugs, oil changes, fuel filters, but I have had three E4OD transmissions. I guess I need to work on the fuel system not and need to learn more about it first.

How many miles?

Your going to have to replace the return lines. It's pretty easy, around $30 for a kit.
The FI system on these rigs generally last 100K miles +/- 30K. It depends on a lot of varibles.

There's no sence in just replacing the returns, if your going to have to replace the IP/inj's in another 100 miles.

My truck has 140,000 miles and has been doing it for about 1000 miles. But I have not been driving it much this past year. Is there a good site to get the IP, Injectors, and lines as well as detailed instructions on installation.

Yeah, It's prolly time for new IP/Inj's

The only thing I'd add: pull the fast idle solonoid (2-7/16" bolts) before you try and remove the IP/Lines. It gives a little more wiggle room to thread them up, outta the engine bay.

Is there a good site to get the IP, Injectors or should I just go to O'Reillys for the parts. What site do you-all recommend???

Do not get the Diesel care pump! Mine was bad when they sent it, had to get another, and it went bad a month later! I am not the only one that has had problems, if you do a search for the name it has come up again and again! Also do not get it from O'Reillys b/c they order them from Diesel Care! The man at D/C is a great guy, always nice about it, but after it broke the second time I put one on from somewhere else. He was real nice, even gave me refund, but I wouldn't buy another thing from him. When the second pump did work, it was hard to get primed up, even after getting fuel to the injector lines it took forever to crank, and once I ran out of fuel it took me 1 hr to get primed back up, even with my electric fuel pump, I thought this was normal, but after I got the new pump, if I ran out it would crank in 30 sec after swapping tanks. Your best bet on something like this would be to find a local diesel injection shop.
