drive train noise questions
Hello all,
Well, I'm officially off the reanger site and on this one!!! I just got an '04, super crew, 4.6, automatic 4x4. It has 98,000miles and the drive train is a little bit louder than it probably should be. If I'm going down the road 55-65- just cruising-not accelerating or decelerating, I hear what I think is a rear diff hum. The axle code is 26 which is i think a 3.73. The noise isn't noticeable if I'm accelerating or decelerating even slightly. On a similar note, when I'm coasting to a stop(below 20), I hear what sounds like tire noise that you would get from an aggressive tread on tar. The tires are just plain stockers with maybe 75% tread and doubt if they could make the noise. Any Ideas?? The transmission is solid, i think...
