So Im normally a Chevy guy, I have a 89 K5 blazer that I have done a bit of work to and have some coin in. I have always liked the body lines of these old fords and have the chance to trade my blazer for one. The truck in question is a 79 king cab with a 460 out of a 69 lincoln. It has been lifted with a huge lift and has 44 inch boggers on it. I would like to get rid of the lift and find something smaller with some smaller tires as a truck that big is not so practical for me. The truck is fairly clean, needs some body work here and there but nothing to extreme. It is coated in oil however and needs some love.
My questions are, where can I find a lift for this truck? Anyone know if someone is interested in 44 inch superswamper boggers and about a 20 inch lift from atlas? Whats the worth for a truck this age? How hard would it be to get that 68 lincoln engine to pass Ca smog? I heard the engine fire, but it needs a tune up pretty bad as the plug wires are arcing all over the place. How reliable is the C6 transmission? How redilly available are parts for this truck? Heres a pic of the truck in question as well as my truck. Thanks in advance for answering my questions on my first post!. **Edit** he has offered me 500 and his truck for my truck. Im curious how much I could get out of the tires and lift to hopefully re-tred and re-lift the truck so it would be driveable.
I would say find another truck candidate and pass on that "deal". The smog police will not like that engine and I doubt you could ever get it to pass smog.
It has a sticker on it from the DMV that was put there years back for legality of the engine in the truck. It's passed smog up till the point he non opped it from lack of use. To get it to pass he said I would need a new PCV valve and a hot line to the distrubuter. So I donno, I was going to talk to the DMV about it and see what they say.
