351n head issue

I was wondering if anyone had experience with these 351n heads. My cousin has a SVO block, dual plane intake, flowed 750 holley, solid flat tappet custom cam with 500+hp in his circle track car, and it seems to run very well with one exception. If its not up to temp. it will pop pretty bad when its on the throttle, and if he runs it around the track a couple of times it will eventually run normally. We talked to the engine builder and he said that he believes the heads are so efficient that it is causing the popping until there is some fuel left over in the combustion chamber. This is the second engine these heads have been on and its the same situation.

Is this a normal condition or is there a problem with something in the heads/other parts??
