Curious to know what you guys think of putting a bug deflector on my Black 2007 Harley Davidson F150. You think that it would look good putting a black bug deflector on a black truck? The dealership sells one for 65 dollars and Im not sure if it will look that great. Also thinking about deflectors for the windows. Is that over doing it? Any of you guys have all this on your trucks and how do they look?
I think the bug deflector is a POS. What I've noticed that needs some protection is the front bumper. My bumpers are painted white. At first I thought it was tar, but when I really looked at it, rocks and other road debris has chipped up the front bumper paint something fierce.
btw, if the bug deflector comes loose a little bit, it can rub on your hood and wear off the paint.
the bug deflector doubles up as winshield "debris" protection like the common rock. definitely worth it to save a little paint and glass chip mania.
x2... and you can also order ones that have team/school logos, in your case a chrome one might look nice, or the simple "smoked" or black look would look good imo. def. worth the $ in my eyes...
If you like the look then go for it.I've had bug guards on all of my older trucks but not on my 06.IMO they don't look as good on 04+ F150s, but that is just my opinion and if you like them do it.
A chrome one might look good on that black truck, they definitely keep the bugs off the lead edge of your hood. Those window deflector things are useless, they don't keep the rain out unless your window is rolled nearly all the way up, and they create a lot of wind noise when driving with the window down. Of course, it's all a matter of your own personal taste.
If you go with a factory deflector you DON'T have to worry about it coming loose. They are installed between the top of the grill and the bottom of the hood, with standoffs to hold the outer edges off the hood, you will not have a problem. About the only way a factory deflector will rub your paint is if the stand-offs fall off and the plexie the goes between top of the grill and the hood snaps.
I other words, it ain't gonna come loose.
I think they look sharp.

Is this aiming towards the newer modeled trucks? Or in general?
'Cause adding the rainguards was one of the easiest and best mods I've done. Like you said though, personal taste.
We made sure that the dealer put a bug deflector on our '07 SCrew before we ever drove it off the lot. They "sand" the roads out here with pebbles, and although a broken windshield is a forgone conclusion, they do reduce the number of rocks hitting it. The one we had added looks very nice, also.

Had them on my '01, but refuse to put them on my '06. Yes, they ARE easy to put on, and look OK, but to me they're functionally useless. Just my opinion.

Thanks for replying - yeah, to each their own... I love them, you find them useless... I say we meet in the middle and put only half a set on (jk)
