I need to replace the rectangular ducts in the dash of a 78 f150 because the ones I have are rotten and all the other trucks I have looked at have been rotten also, I have checked all of the websites and catalogs that I have laying around the house and can't seem to be able to find anyone who sells the felx ducts, do yall know of anyone who sells them
thanks
just to make sure we are on the same page, I need the duct that runs from the box under the dash to the defroster duct it is about 6 in long by about 3 in wide, I have never seen anything like that at the parts store can you be more specific about the store
Still googling...if he has no joy finding it, the round might be all he can get. www.mcmaster.com could fix him up but he'd have to set up an account...or, he could hit the pick a parts for later model cars/trucks and look for a rectangular duct to morph into place.
Parts are not all that difficult to find. If you go into a shop with the idea you want XYZ part for ZYX vehicle and blurt that out to the counterman you will get a deer in the headlight look that is a mirror of your own. If you are going to drive and repair these old trucks you need to take some personal initiative and responsibility. It is up to the truck owner to measure the application and go search for the part in the paper books, on the shelves, and in the hardware store.

D5TZ-18547-B .. Heater~A/C Duct
Universal fitzall rectangular ducting might work by splicing it in, but in this case, the duct (Ford calls it a flexible gasket) has a metal flange with bolt holes on the bottom to attach it to the plenum chamber. Try the universal fix...duct tape.

Zip-ties can also be used to secure the ends of the tubing. For automotive applications I like to use the black ties even inside the cab where UV radiation is not a problem. UV radiation will eventually cause the natural white nylon ties to crack. The ties can be threaded thru holes in the tubing and plenum also.
Round tubing can be made into rectangular tubing easily.

When I worked at Autozone, I had someone come in and buy air breather duct hose.He installed it out in the parking lot ( Because of the bad weather he was in bad need of a defroster) I think it was the 3" ducting that ended up fitting perfectly. The ducting is behind the counter though.
thanks for all the help i will check with advance auto in town but i really don't like to go there because of the lack of the knowledge with the staff, how do i get in touch with rock auto
