dose anyone know what year started to have them or dose it depend on the model??

That is a tough one non the less but im going to give it a shot my best guess is when Electronic Fuel Injection came out in 86 maybe wrong but if someone knows im sure they will post

i know in 86 f150's with 302's where injected and 85's wernt

The answer is going to be rather complicated, because different engines used different configurations as the years went by. But computers were used way before 86 on carbed engines.

California: 1981/

Nationwide: 1984/

Ford's official name for computers: Engine Electronic Control Processor Assy (EEC)

My friend's 86 F150 4wd with 351w is non fuel injected, but he has a check engine lite, so it probably has computer. Truck is all original.

85 was the first year they came out with a fuel injected 302. I looked in Chiltons manuals and other sources on the internet and they have all showed that it came out in 85.

thx guys. i rolled my truck yesterday and crushed the roof and drivers side door so i might get a truck that has crap engine and tranny and put my rebuild 302 and c6, but ive been told if it has a comp then i cant because it dosent have 1. has anyone switched a whole cab? its just the roof , wind sheild and drv side door.

Switching cabs is pretty basic really just time consuming. Its a matter of taking the front clip off then unbolting the cab for the most part, just a bunch of bolts.
