turbo noise
hello i have a 2001 f350 superduty my question is that should my turbo make that whistling noise that i hear everyone elses do.how do i check to see if my turbo is bad and is it easy to do.i can feel the turbo when i accelerate on the freeway but because i dont here the whistling i was wondering if the turbo is going bad thanks.one more question i went in to the dealership to ask them about fluids for my transmission and transfercase and they said to use mercon vatf but my truck is a manual and far as i know all manual trans use gear oil any help thanks.

If your truck is stock with no mods it will be hard to hear the turbo the factory did a few things to quiet it down, a little money and time will change that . From what you say about the way it runs I doubt that there is anything wrong with the turbo when a turbo goes bad you know it. Your manual tranny and transfer case both take ATF I use Royal Purple in mine.

thanks for your reply at about what rpms does the turbo kick in.do alot of new manual trans missions use atf i have a old 4runner and ican change all the fluids with gear oil except the engine.thank you
