What's up with DODGE and GM
#16
Enhancing diesel-powered performance of 2007 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty trucks is an electronically-controlled Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT), which precisely matches boost pressure with the engine's needs. The 6.7-liter engine's VGT utilizes 16 fixed vanes and a sliding yoke, providing variable geometry, as well as an electric valve. The VGT produces optimum combustion control, reduced emissions and a quiet and lag-free throttle response.

This is strait from Cummins website, about half way down the page.
http://www.everytime.cummins.com/every/applications/ram67.jsp
This engine utilizes a third-generation HPCR fuel system and has pressure capability of up to 1800 bar (26,000 psi). It is a highly flexible system that achieves a total package of lower Noise, Vibration, Harshness (NVH), reduced emissions and improved fuel economy. This engine meets the 2007 emissions regulations by utilizing cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and other air-handling concepts, including Cummins own proprietary sliding-nozzle Variable Geometry Turbocharger to give optimum boost level as a function of engine rpm and load. The multi-injection-capable fuel system is then used to manage in-cylinder conditions to limit emissions. The product will also have a particulate filter that reduces particulate matter (PM) level by 90 percent to meet the new 2007 regulations.
Also, here is the link for the Chassis / Cab motor:
http://www.everytime.cummins.com/eve...ons/ramcab.jsp
This engine is rated with 305 horsepower at just 2900 rpm. The 6.7-liter Turbo Diesel reaches peak torque of 610 lb-ft at 1600 rpm, setting the industry standard for pulling power

after reading that I clicked on the FAQ here is what they say
Why is the Holset VG Turbo better than the competition? Competitive turbos use movable vanes, with literally dozens of moving parts. The Holset VG Turbo uses a single sliding nozzle with only one moving part in the exhaust stream. It's simpler, more reliable and more durable by design. Take a look at our EGR/VG Turbo video and see how simple is better, every time.
http://www.everytime.cummins.com/every/customer/faq.jsp go to #4 for the link to the video thanks for the link I was there earlier, but didn't comprehend to well

Don't get me wrong, I hold no brand loyalty to an auto manufacturer. Never have, never will. I pay them for a vehicle, they better provide me a reliable vehicle and good service or I find someone who does.
I loved my V10 SD, but when it came time for a new truck and it being a diesel, I went with the Dodge. Even I wouldn't go for the Dura-crap.....all I want from them is the tranny.

Who cares who has more or less HP? Many of us hear are over 16 years old and don't buy a vehicle based on marketing numbers. I would be FAR more happy if Ford decided to go with a 200hp 400torque or so in an I6 rather than another over blown V8.

As for GM, yeah they ahve a couple more ponies and few more lbs of torque, but the overall capability of their NEW truck is FAR less than the FORD.
So once again FORD rocks!
Just feeling good today thats all

Man......
If I could afford it......I'd have an SD w/ a Cummins, backed up by an Allison.
Then....all would be right in the world.
I never liked, or even drove, a Dodge until I bought this truck. I test drove all 3, have experience with Ford and Chevy, and decided on the Dodge.
The biggest thing that got me was the customer service. Point blank.....I think Ford's customer service sucks! They like to R&D on the customer and, for the most part, the tech's are a bunch of oil change monkey's. For instance, today I had my Focus in for a rattle in the engine compartment. Took me 5 seconds to find it....the tech was clueless. I had to physically go through my own trouble shooting procedures to get him to find the problem. It wasn't "throwing a code" so I guess there really wasn't a problem.
Dodge has been no angels either. I've gone as far as the regional rep before I finally got my engine and tranny replaced due to dealership screw ups. Friggin' monkeys with hammers!

No, the shiznit is having, a F650 with a CAT C7 and a Allison tranny. IM sorry Cummins are great engines but nothings gonna beat a CAT in pulling power. The F650 Pickup conversion of my friends will out run 24V Dodges I have seen it happen too many times. Its not been up against a Common Rail 24V but vs Stock 24V's it will out run it and we are talking about a F650 with Air Ride, 4x4, and 22.5's and the engine os completely stock. I will get some pics of it next weekend we are taking it to the Grand Rod Run next weekend in Pigeon Forge, TN.
