Hi..i just replaced the speed sensor located on the rear diff, because the trans. was shifting very hard from 2nd to 1st..i took it in and the scan was saying that the sensor was reading zero during the entire ride...well i have been driving since and the same problem is happening..but it only happpens when it has just rained out or snowed..i check the sensor wires that i could see and the connections under the drivers seat and all seemed ok...does anyone know what other problem areas that i can check? thanks
The speed sensors should put out a low AC voltage signal to the computer when spinning. Therefore if it reads zero there might be a problem in the sensor internally...or a bad wire. Which sounds more like your problem since it only does it when wet out.
Just helped the mechanics here at work with one doing something similar. Would set an ABS code as soon as the brake was touched. Ended up being the connector under the drivers seat was full of water, dried it out and it worked fine after that. If you've already checked the connector, maybe water has got into the wiring in this area and corroded the wiring inside the insulation.
are you talking about the connections outside of cab but pretty much right underneath the drivers seat..or the connections that i haven't checked yet that are under the capet on the drivers seat but in the cab..i;m taking a look at those tomorrow..are there any other connections i should look at? thanks for the feedback everyone
The one I'm referring to is outside, it has a bolt that holds the connector together. It is right by the fuel filter (at least it was on the 03 we were working on). The bolt had worked loose allowing water into the connector, plus it wasn't making good contact.
