Battery Light Hell !

I have a 1988 f-150 4x4 w/4.9 6 cyl.,my battery light came on , and the charge gauge went very low, I replaced the battery and cleaned and checked the cables , and it is still doing the exact same thing , i would think that with the new battery , it would at least register on the charge gauge ,, any help would be appreciated greatly !

I second that. Check the alternator out. Most battery/service shops will do that for ya' for free. Check your ground as well, although this doesn't really sound like a groudn problem.
