I know this is the donwfall of every bronco, but of course my 88 has a rear window that does not work. I know juice is getting from the dash switch, so that's not the problem. However, only one wire (the up wire) is getting juice in the back. I hooked up a new motor and it will not turn at all. Here are my questions:
1) Does the motor need power from both wires to run? Or did I get a bad motor?
2) Would the key switch going bad affect the juice getting to the motor? I suspect yes from what I've read elsewhere.
3) Does the key switch itself come separate from the key lock? All I can find online is the lock.
4) Any helpful tips, magic potions, anger management suggestions, etc...?
I got the window down, and the next pretty day I will begin disecting the tailgate. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Two things check your Ground and make sure that your tailgate is fully closed as the window will not work with it down or open for safety reasons.
The key swich in the door and the dash switch are all inter connected to make the window motor work the switches just change polarity in the window motor.
So make sure all the switches are plugged in and make sure with a continuity test that they work also check for broken wires to the switches sometimes they don't look broken but a little pull on them will fix that(Break it, you know what I mean)
GL and don't get frustrated go wire by wire one at a time and it should go no problem.
....and make sure that your tailgate is fully closed as the window will not work with it down or open for safety reasons..
Further on this.....sometimes the button inside the tailgate (telling the motor it is fully closed) can be broken or bent so it is not functioning correctly.
If your driver side strike bolt bushing is broken/missing you have to lean on the tailgate to close the switch, also the plug for the tailgate is behind the driver side taillight you can check voltage and continuity there a little better then trying to reach inside the tailgate. best of luck to you.
