Any suggestions for hood mounted bug/rock deflectors for the X. I've had a couple on 'burbans that I've owned in the past - but they were on when I bought em. Didn't care for how well they held up becuase the connectors broke - wish I knew the brands so I could avoid them.
My 95 Tahoe started rusting out just above the windshield. I don't like the look of visors. Are there any deflectors that will also protect the windshield/roof line?
Bug deflectors don't deflect bugs. And the chances of a rock hitting the actual leading edge of the hood is quite small in comparison to one hitting the deflector and breaking it.
Need something that will protect and not ruin the lines of the vehicle or force you to bolt a cheap piece of Chinese plastic on the truck? Try this.
There are many products like this out there. It will "mold" the the hood's leading edge and surrounding areas. And it's a perfect application for the windshield line....however, nothing replaces a good & careful cleaning of that area.
Some guys use it on the painted body between the wheel well and the running board. If you don't have a mudflap all kinds of things get slung up there.
Thanks Monsta - their product looks good. I hear what you're saying about the odds of the rock actually hitting the deflector.
That said, my 'burbans that had em didn't get any chips in the hood - and very few on the roof line. My Tahoe without one was badly chipped on the hood and worse on the roofline. All were '95 model year, same shape/lines, same number of miles, same driving conditions (gravel vs. paved), same undercoat paint process at the factory...
I hear what you are saying, but my experience suggests that they do help the hood a lot, and it would seem, the roof line a bit as well.
