this is an early 302, the engine was balanced when built, but we had to change the flywheel, now theres a vibration at about 2000 rpm, if I take the old flywheel to the balance shop can they match the new one to the same balance, thought I would ask here before going and have the guy look at me like I'm crazy..thanks
is the new flywheel the same balance 28oz?.....
when they balanced it did they weld weight to the flywheel and balancer?..if so you should have gotten a balance sheet so you can get the new one matched....when I did the clevor they wanted to weld on the flywheel I said no put it on the crank so I can change flywheels with out any problems.

You might just have a 50oz flywheel on there.....
yes the new wheel is 28oz..its an aftermarket steel billet..I asumed it was balanced..maybe not?? and there was no welding on the flywheel or balancer(Fordmotorsport with 280z bolted on weight) when originaly done
sorry for all the ??? hard to do anything miles away.....
the flywheel was surfaced when we built the engine about 3 yrs ago...my son tore up the clutch from racing it all the time and it scored the flywheel bad enough that we didn't want to surface it again..so we bought the new flywheel and clutch..at this point I'm just going to pull the trans remove the clutch and test it for vibration and then remove the flywheel and try another one I have and see what happens unless you have another suggetion...thanks for your help
so the worn out flywheel had a bolt on weight......?
if so did you reuse that weight..?
think they might have removed weight from it when they balanced it..?
no, the original flywheel didn't have a weight, it was just a stock 28oz, the new one has the bolt on weight...when I get it apart I'm going to try another stock wheel I have, we didn't use it becuase its for a 10 in clutch and we have been using an 11, but if it works I'll get a new 10in clutch for it
