Whenever I drive through rain, or it sits in rain, whether it is for 2 miles or 30min outside, If I shut my truck off, it won't start back up again. To start it, I have to coast down a hill and jam the clutch out (thank god for a stick-shift, huh). It won't crank, the lights, wipers, stereo all work and the tach twitches once and stops.
It wouldn't be the silenoid(?) would it, or would it be the wires going to the starter from the silenoid(?)?
Please help
O yeah, there is a gouge on the starter wire, I'm gonna put money on that as to what's biting my a$$, and when I replace it, what gauge wire is it?.
Well, I think water/moisture gets in the wire via the huge gaping hole in the starter wire which I'm going to replace. Where do I get one and what gauge wire is it?
What I would do before any guessing is a little troubleshooting. Go over and find the solenoid. It may not look exactly like the picture below, but it will be close. When it won't start, MAKE SURE IT'S IN NEUTRAL and go out with a small jumper wire and jump #3 in the diagram below to #5.
If it cranks with the jumper, then your starter cable, solenoid, and starter are ok, and you have a problem with the neutral safety switch, the ignition switch, or something in that part of the circuit. All these components feed #5.
