B&M shift kit
What are the pro's and cons? I'm going to change the fluid on my 71 C6 and the filter. Someone suggested putting in a B&M shift kit. Just a stock daily driver that shifts soft at low RPM and really hard at high RPM. What will change with the addition of the kit? If I do it is there anything else to consider. This may be the original fluid I don't think it has been changed since my dad got it back in 83 or 84. It does not seem strong in reverse and I noticed this winter it became more responsive after warming up.

I put a B&M shift kit in my C-6 and at low speeds it shifts very crisp and at higher rpm at shifts a lot harder. I am not a tranny expert but, I have been told that a tranny with a firm shift will last longer than a tranny with a soft shift. Whether that is true or not I dont know. The shift kit should have different stages you can set up for. I have mine set at the highest stage with the hardest shift. On yours I would probably opt for the middle stage. Thats just my opinion. There may be someone out there with more knowledge than I have on the subject.
