There is a ring inside the ignition switch (gold if I remember correctly) that when you turn on the ignition it makes contact. This ring is either broken or has moved causing it to short on something. I had the same problem with my other Bronco. I got lucky and saw part of the ring sticking out and pulled it out the rest of the way with a pair of needle nose plyers. The ring was located just behind the silver key cover. Hope this helps.
