Battery Light
Towing the other day in Tow/Haul Mode, the battery light on the dashboard of my 2004 6.0l would light up and stay on over 3500 rpm. When I dropped below this rpm, the light would extinguish. After awhile, the light began to come on above 2500 rpm and would stay on until I dropped below this rpm. I hooked a meter to it while running and it shows a positive charge state at 12.5 volts up to about 13.5 volts at high rpm. Predictably, the battery light would illuminate indicating a problem but the volt meter seemed to indicate that the system was OK. Any thoughts?

Loose belt or bad alternator. Check tensioner. Charging voltage with a good battery should be 14.5 volts. A good battery with the surface charge taken off. lights on for 3 mins should be 12.5 to 12.7 volts...engine not running.
