Pcm?

What is a PCM? I did a search and got "no matches". I'm asking because the Ford guy said I probably need a new PCM seeing as the pressure coming off the schraeder valve is not registering. It could be air getting in somewhere in the fuel line, but I'd like to look into this PCM thing as well.

-I think he said PCM. He was foreign and I'm not exactly certain that was what he said. No offense to any foreign born FTE's.

PCM is your Powertrain Control Module.

Only the 7.3l trucks with the E4OD automatic overdrive transmissions use them.

The manual transmission trucks do not have PCM's as the engines and transmissions are 100% mechanical with no electronic control.

The older trucks with the C6 transmissions used vacuum control to shift the transmission.

Recently helped a fellow in Finland replace his PCM, not cheap. About $450 from Ford. You might be able to find a used one at the wrecker for $200.

Unless your truck is a powerstroke the pcm has nothing to do with fuel pressure in fact most of the 7.3l powerstrokes still had mechanical fuel pumps on the engine.. there is nothing wrong with your pcm there is something wrong with your mechanic.. first thing I would do if I were you is fine a new Mechanic...
