Two weeks ago, I purchased my first diesel 04 F250 PSD used. Since, I purchased this vehicle, I have already had it in the shop to change the oil pump. To my horror, I found out that my truck has had the heads replaced with 06 heads and other parts replaced approximately 7K of parts according to the diesel mech, but my salesman did not disclose upon purchase. I'm wondering now if my truck will last long enough until I pay it off.

Where are you in Texas? Please describe your truck in a little more detail.
Did you purchase it from a Ford dealer? Have you obtained an OASIS report?
How many miles on the truck? If under 100K you are covered by engine warranty. Not sure if they have to tell you of repairs done on a used vehicle. But i really doubt it. Especially if the vehicle came from a auction house to the dealer. With those repairs done you should have no problems as they have been addressed by your description by the previous owner. Yes get an Oasis report for your truck to see what has been done. Ask the teck if the truck has a tuner on it. If it does that might have been part of the problem as it probably was overpowered if turned way up.
Sorry for the late response, but here is what I got from the Ford dealer all repairs were done by Covert Ford in Austin TX:
1) Both heads replaced. 2) Oil cooler and EGR replaced. 3) Replaced T-STAT 4)Replaced EGR valve 5)Replaced Electric fan clutch 6) Flushed radiator 7)Shift lever replaced and the list goes on that is why I'm concerned.
Looks like they may have been parts changing instead of troubleshooting a little to me. On the heads though, that is a good sign. IH was having some issues with head surface flatness, and Ford was rejecting many used heads if they did not meet what Ford thought they should be. Many were able to be cleaned up on a head plane with no problem, Ford was not willing to take that chance. Ford was also refusing some new heads from IH over the very same issue, which is probably why Ford started replacing them in the first place. Due to what IH was sending them new being out of spec.
Like "mrxlh" was saying, almost sounds like someone was just exchanging parts for a problem that more than likely was a simple part. At work we have an '05 6.0 PSD that wouldn't restart after it had warmed up; the guy that drove the truck every day was getting ticked because it had left him sitting on the side of the road so to speak. The local Ford dealership replaced the OEM oil pump with a "high pressure" oil pump...only for the troubles to continue. A different dealership looked into the entire problem and discovered a leaking manifold that handles the high pressure oil that feeds the injectors; problem fixed. The truck had to visit at least three different dealerships to find the problem and fix. Replacing the heads, fan clutch and flushing the radiator almost sounds like it was running warmer than normal, were in reality the problem may have been a defective thermostat. But that is just me thinking out loud.
I have a '04 F250 PSD that I bought new. I maintain it well.
Worn out ball joints in the 30K mile range.
Terrible LemonStroke performance.
Crossroads Ford in Memphis is great at stonewalling on warranty repairs.
Why do warranty repairs when they can just deny a problem exists?
I feel like I'm being held hostage by Ford.
VERY DISAPPOINTED!
So don't feel lonley. Ford screws original owners, too.
