2007 Rusting ?!?

2007 Rusting ?!?
Just curious, just got an 07 F250SD XLT with the 6.0PSD. Only had 17 miles on it when i got it. Looked under the hood today just to check it out, and i see a bunch of fittings throughout the engine compartment that are a dark reddish brown rust color. Is this normal. What the heck? Also noticed alot of chalky dusting around things like the alternator. If it is rust and corrosion, why and when you get it brand new, i would expect it to look brand new as well.....

Bought my 06 new, has the same "problem". Talked to the dealer, they said it was standard issue. I hear you when a buyer would expect the engine compartment to look like it was not contaminated when purchasing a new vehicle!

If a few little nuts and stuff looking rusty in the engine compartment bugs you, don't look under the truck at all.
I am really suprised of how poorly some of those things were painted, if they were ever painted at all.

I love my trucks, but they make these things out of the junkiest metal you can find. Back in '01-'02 we had a friend whose diff cover rusted through on his '99, lost all the fluid on a long tow and took out the rear end. Some things you assume you don't have to worry about! Keep an eye on those covers, they're as thick as a bag of potato chips.

same issues with my 06 the inside of the front crome bumper is rusting. I think the dealership should get me a new bumper, but i really don't like the idea of my truck left at the dealership. so i might just pull the bumpers and paint the insides, or have the insides sprayed with line-x
