Shure the trans is sluggish and not the engine, I've had several engine power problems that affect the trans. Fuel filter is the major culprit, also the maf sensor.

Yeah you can change the filter and fluid in the trans and hopefully that will help...but....I have a feel'n you might be look'n at the torque converter ...thats where my money is at.....

If it revs up fine and just dosn't want to go, I'll agree with NevadaBlue. But if it is running like crap while under load, Ranger88a is probally right. I would definatly change the fuel filter, it's cheap and easy, $10/20min. Being a 1999 model, it has a drain plug on the torque converter. I would drop the pan, change the filter, drain the torque converter, and fill with 12-14qts of a good quality synthetic fluid. both are cheaper than a new torque converter and it may fix the problem or at least delay the enevitable. Good Luck!!!

I agree with changeing the fuel filter 100%. I also second the tranny fluid change. Some like it some don't but I like to have mine back flushed with all new fluid. If nothing else Try a bottle of "lucas transmission fix" It's darn near a miracle in a bottle for slipping transmissions. Can't hurt....that I know of anyway.
