I just bought an 04 superduty and I hooked up a boost and EGT gauge and the boost guage is only showing about 5-6psi of boost. I asked a couple of mybuddies about their trucks and they said it should be about 20-25psi. All the truck has is and Edge EZ towing module-60hp/100ftlb and a straight pipe. Any help is appreciated.
5-6psi is nothing! i would say that if the truck is driving fine and you have power and can hear the trubo maybe the boost gauges isn't hooked up right. i can see 25+psi and my truck is stock. good luck
If you only have 5-6 lbs of boost, you would know it. It wouldn't have any power. If the truck has plenty of get up 'n go, it is a gauge or install issue.
The guage is "t"eed into the vacuum line that goes from the intake manifold to the MAP sensor. Im also not sure what the truck should be capable of. I just bought the truck about two weeks ago and it's my first diesel. The only thing I have to compare it o is a not stock mustang.
I called the local ford dealer and spoke witha diesel tech today. He said that the truck only make about 5-7psi when your just cruising around. He said that on the interstate, if you floor it, it might spike to 20psi. I was just wondering when you guys are raching over 20psi and is it different with a load than just cruising around?

I can nail the pedal from a dead stop and produce 20psi very quickly. Pulling up a hill I can make 30psi (pulling 4,500lbs trailer). My truck is completely stock and my turbo is 1 week old courtesy of Ford. I drilled and tapped (off of the truck) the intake elbow for my boost gauge.

Not sure how you are doing your readings...but you need to floor it and see what it is. A stock 6.0 will do around 25-27 (empty)....you'll probably see around 30-32 since you have a tuner.
Tapping into the MAP line like you did will cause the readings to flutter a little in the higher ranges (above 15psi generally). As mentioned above, tapping the intake elbow will eliminate the flutter at all ranges.
Thanks for all your help everybody. I will tap the intake elbow and if nothing changes, back the dealer. I hope its not a turbo problem because the turbo was just replaced 4,000 miles ago.
