I grew up on a Dairy farm in Colo. Dad used to love rebuilding the old Ford "M" tractors. He Would get them entered in the county fair. Its a fun project! Have fun . I envy you!!!!
the guy couldnt figure out what was wrong with it ...so we went and got it brought it home and put some new points in it ..and then sprayed inside the carb with some carb cleaner ...and put some gas in it and put the plug wires in the right order and she fired right up ... but its gonna end up being ours b/c this guy is realll old and daddy said hes gonna buy it ... but we can use it anytime we want to the owner dont care ...
Its ''N'' not m. but the 600 is not a "N" tractor. the Ns were 9N, 2N 8N abd the NAA.
I didn't mean to say that was an "M" . Just that the old tractor dad use to rebuild, Its fun building any old tractor!!

I dont know that much about the n;s This is a good looking 600
Harry Ferguson had the idea of the 3point hitch and became partners with ford, this gave us the(9n because the production started in 1939. The n means nothing) 9n. the 2n(production started in 1942) was just the war time version of the 9n, and did not have the accsories the 9n did some even had steel wheels.
The 9n and 2n were called Ford-Ferguson tractors.
Then ford and Ferguson went there separate ways and ford made a new tractor the 8n(1948) the 8n had a little more power, a 4spd transmission, both brake pedals on the right side and a new paint color.
Ford used the same hitch an hyd. system on the 8n as the 9and 2n, but with ought Ferguson's permission.
This resulted in one on the biggest law suites in agriculture history. Ford lost in the end and had to pay out big dollars to Ferguson, and lost the right to the hydraulics system, Ferguson's patent on the hitch had just expired and the court would not renew it for ford could still use it.
So ford needed a new tractor, and this was the naa, or jubilee, it was a whole new tractor the motor, hyd. pump transmission, every thing was different.
This led to the 500, 600,700 and 800 series of tractors.
