I have an opportunity to buy a 5.0 out of a '91 Mustang here in Memphis. The price seemed right until I talked with the seller today and he says that sometime in the recent past (we are just getting out of very late, very hard freeze) the engine blew out the freeze plugs.
Should I:
1.) run away from this motor?
2.) offer much less?
3.) or not worry, replace the plugs, and buy the 5.0 at the $450 asking price?
Depending on what you're wanting to do, I vote to offer less. If you're planning a rebuild, offer him the price of the parts involved. Block, crank, cam, valves, head, whatever you plan on using from that engine.
And I've been through Memphis. I would offer him less just because I have to be in Memphis. But that's just one man's opinion.
