The agency where I have my home owners and all other vehicles wants an insane amount ($375 every 6 months) for insurance on the trailer and contents (less car) against acts of God, theft and vandalism. It's an agreed upon worth ... $15K on trailer and $3K on contents.
Any suggestions on carriers to check with?
I could start in the yellow pages and go down the list, but thought this route might yield some good lesson's learned.
What state are you from? Here in Michigan the tow vehicle insurance covers the trailer liability ins. but will not cover the cost of triler or contents. I'm wondering because it is a car hauler and it will have gas in the car being hauled as to the reason for the higher cost. I would check around with a package deal and see what other carriers say. Bring your current policys with you and see what they say. Doesn't hurt to compare pricing. Also let your current agent know what you are doing and maybe there is something he can do so as not to loose your business.
