IAT Sensor and/or Coolant temp Sensor Location
The reason I'm looking for them is I saw a product on EBay made by the "Juice-Box" company. It is supposed to be wired in with either of these two sensors to help MPG and Tourque. Anybody have any input on these gadgets before I bid on them. I'm assuming they lie to the IAT sensor to mess with the A/F ratio but I'm not sure how it would work with the coolant temp sensor (not the sending unit but the input to the computer).
The "company" is selling a resistor which makes the truck believe it is either 1. Taking in cooler air than it is, thus richening up the fuel mixture or 2. making it think it isn't up to temp, thus richening up the fuel mixture. While this might sound good on paper, I would not do it for numerous reasons, the most obvious is having to hack on your factory wiring. Also, with a more rich fuel mixture, your MPG will go down. More fuel injected means more fuel used means less MPG.
If you want more power, you'll have to spend money. There is no secret mod or $10 home brewed concoction that can reliably give you more power. No tornado making, fuel adder, throttle spacing object. None.
With the 5.4L you're looking at 20rwhp gains with bolt ons, unless you consider the supercharger.
Bottom line is, stay away from these e-bay scams. However, YMMV this is just my opinion/input (since you asked
)
