Injectors 99 PSD

1999 PSD has begun to use a lot of oil. The first shop says that the motor needs to be rebuilt (190,000 miles). I spoke with a second mechanic that says that the o-rings on the injectors can go bad causing the motor to burn oil. The motor has had reguar oil changes and still runs very good. The high oil consumption has come on recently and quickly. Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. The truck in question belongs to my father. I will find out how many miles it is getting to the quart. How difficult are the o-rings to change?

It is an involved process, but not technically hard.

Do a dry then wet, compression test. That will tell you what condition your rings are in.
