Ding !!! D-shaft Question
ok when i put my truck in gear my d-shaft spends backwards then goes forward real quick and makes a dingin noise ... my u-joints r not bad they have already been checked ... wats causin this ? im sick of hearin it ... thanks Bigun

The Infamous Ford driveshaft Clunk
Pull the driveshaft and stuff some (handful) high temp wheel bearing grease into the yoke and put it back on the truck....voila ! ...the clunk is gone

so are you sayin just drop the d-shaft down and put a hand full of grease like inside and on the yolk ? or take the yolk off and put it in there and then put the yolk back on ...
remember im 16 so it takes me a minute to get it all in my head

Pull the driveshaft
Take a grease gun with some Wheel bearing grease for disc brakes and pump some into the yoke trying to make it uniform around the splines inside.
Don't put too much in there. Just about a handful is lots... remembering that it will get pushed to the inside causing a cushion of grease.

the grease is just taking the noise away it is not fixing the problem i had the same problem in my 79 and when i repleaced the gears in the rear end it fixed the problem so you might look into that to make sure your rear end is not going out
