4R100 rebuild problems
Had the son's 98 F150 4WD taken in to a questionable shop for a transmission rebuild. Could tell the owner was a con when I went later to talk about the truck and then later found the owner had a criminal record longer than he was. Anyway, trying to salvage a bad decision on the son's part, went thru with the rebuild and was suppose to pick the truck up Friday. Not ready, now the shop owner claims the engine computer is bad and causing the transmission not to work and he needs to replace the computer. Said the OD light started flashing and the computer won't read. Funny, when my son took the truck in, he plugged in the diagnostic computer and it showed no codes. Now it won't read. Figured that if they don't have it going Monday morning, we're going to have a friend with a flatbed go fetch it and take it to someone more trustworthy. He got $800 up front so I figure the son will have to chalk it up to experience.
