2000 psd won't start cold

my church has a F-450 bus. the only way to start it is to plug it in and wait awile. its only got 100k on it. they carried it to the dealer they say it has no compression. work order says that both heads pull 77 amps also says all glow plugs are good. i tried to crank it yesterday, WTS light comes on stays on like it should and goes out spin it and it sounds like it hits on one cyl and misses the rest. plug it in and wait an hour or so and it fires right up. winter or summer same thing.

Well, they may have checked the glow plugs, but did they check the relay that switches them on and off? If it is still there, get them to replace the relay, usually it fixes it and fires right up.

Mine did too

I have a 2000 f350, that was hard to start when cold, I checked the GPR and it was okay. I had a couple of glow plugs that were suspect so I replaced all 8 of em about 6 weeks ago. It got cold again yesterday and the truck wouldn't start, even plugged in. I went to NAPA last night and bought a GPR109, installed it and in 5 minutes, it was running. Left it unplugged last night, and this morning at 18 degrees, it fired right up. Guess the moral to the story is that just because the GPR can conduct voltage, it may not be flowing the amps to light the plugs. Heck, itz for a Church bus, I'd spend the $30 and give it a try.
