Using EDGE as guage only?

I have heard there have been problems with the edge for 07 models 5.4liter engine. I have just recieved my edge but am afraid to install it and have problems if I use it solely for guages will this cause codes or be a problem for the truck? I am not really intrested in the performance attributes but would like to use it for the guages and readouts. Is this possible without causing harm? I am trying to decide on sending this unit back and waiting till later? Your thoughts? Thanx in advance!! Fordfrog206

Have you read the manual? I think there is a factory setting and basically lets you just use the gauges.

Yeah you can do that. The first time you hook it up it is still at stock settings with the gauges. You have to actually go through the menu to Power programming and pick a level to change the performance.

Yes you can, I did that when I first installed mine and then went ot eh level 2 non custom tune. I have an 06 and dont have the problems that you guys with the 07's have but...when EDGE fixes them try level 2 it makes a world of difference in these 5.4's.

That is good to know on using the Evolution just for the gauges. I will be receiving my Evolution on Tuesday and have been reading the threads on the problems fellow 07 people are having. I may just use the gauges in the stock mode and then wait maybe for a reflash or when others are using the performance side with out a hick up. Back in 03 I had the same deal with performance mods for my 1 ton Cummins Dodge. Companies were selling mods that were not checked out fully when piggy backing other plug in modules, to me that is the nature of the beast because of the new programs in the vehicles. I am just looking forward to having something modified.

Even if you do have a problem with your Edge give them a call and they'll bend over backwards to get you fixed. When the new model years come out then have to play catch-up to get everythig up to date and get all the bugs worked out, same thing happened with my '06 and it works flawlessly now.

That is correct, I had an Edge EZ on my old truck and there were some issues, but with talking to the customer service, they were very friendly and resolved the problems that I had. That is the only way they can make the things 100% bug proof, but owners letting them know.
