I'm waiting for my '08 to be delivered in the next few weeks. I did talk to a couple of mechanics and a Ford service manager. They said the '08 (at least in California) definately has an EGR. It also has 2 EGR coolants.

I'm not sure exactly what the coolants or coolers are though?

Are they talking about the V10, or the diesel? The 2008 diesel uses EGR coolers.

I don't think the gassers need an EGR cooler.

i wouldnt be too concerned about an egr on a gasser...they run pretty clean now and they have a lot of experience with them (probably almost twenty years)...diesel egrs on the other hand with cats, aftertreatment, etc, suck

I know this doesnt apply to the 08's but on my 02 that I ordered and bought new came from the factory with NO EGR.There is no fitting on the drivers exhaust manifold for the fitting for the pipe.My old 99 with the v-10 had an EGR valve.

Thanks for the updates. I reckon the truck is going to have EGR and I'm cool with it to an extent. However, if I was given a choice I would pick a non EGR engine over one with EGR. I guess it's the diesel EGR mentality in me talking. I went out of my way to get an early 2004 Dodge Cummins because there was talk of adding EGR for all 04's built after 1/1/04. It never happened but there was some serious panic for awhile among the diesel guys.

Don't be afraid of gassers with EGR.

They've been doing it since the early 70's if not earlier.
