98. 4.6L, 100K miles
Anybody ever had oil show up in a spark plug well? The top of the engine is clean. It's the #4 cylinder, so kind of hard to actually see inside, but the truck developed a miss in that cylinder and in the trouble shooting discovered oil (enough to be dripping out of the spark plug socket) when removed. Ever since removing the spark plug and cleaning it the miss has disappeared but I am still curious about where the oil might have come from, and if it will return.
Any help would be appreciated.

 

this wont be much help, but i work in a shop, and the same thing happened, i think it was either an explorer, or...hmm i am not sure, but yeah there was actually like a pool of oil in the spark plug well, im only 20 so im not a "real" technician, so when i pulled the spark plug out and saw that i handed the car off to one of our other guys with more experience, so this actually doesnt help AT ALL, but i have had a similar experience, sorry i wasted your time
