Critical question...
Is it critical to run a knock sensor on a 5.0L 302 engine? I am getting ready to use another 302 block and this block is from a 99 Explorer and as you all know the explorer and mountaineers didn't use knock sensors on their motors for some reason I don't know? What can I do to bypass the knock sensor in the wiring harness. There isn't a boss on the shortblock anywhere..

I've replied twice already about this same question. Drill and tap the explorer block where it is on the truck block and install your knock sensor. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, wire tie the knock sensor (plugged into the wiring, of course) somewhere that it can't rattle around and hit anything while you are driving, and stop worrying so much about it.
