transmission problems

hey,

i have a 95 f250 460 4x4 5 speed, and i'm not really sure how to describe this, but 8 times out of 10 when you try to shift into 2nd gear, it doesn't go in the first few times...sorry for being so vague but any help or advice would be much appreciated

when shifting from 1st to 2nd pull out of 1st, move shifter to the right then move back to the left and into 2nd.
