Turbo ?

Well I finished installing new head yesterday and got it fired up and running today. Seems to run good hoewever I now have what sounds like a leak in the exhaust. I can not feel or see anything blowing out of the connections. The noise seems to be coming from the turbo itself. Also notice a exhaust smell in the cab when coming to stops. So I did the KOER test with the AE scantool and came back with P2263 turbo/supercharger boost performance. This does not come up on the DTC but only on KOER. Have searched on here and seen some of the tests that can be done but AE does not give me the ability to turn the VGT on or off. Is there anything else I can do or is it time for a new turbo at 149000 miles. Forgot to mention I did an egr block off plate while it was all apart but does not appear to be leaking there either.

Explain your block off plate.....I'm curious as to what you did. You can remove your EGR and weld it so it will not open.

When you installed the turbo you need to align the up pipes as to not bind them. Most likely your exhaust smell is a cracked pipe from improper installation of the up pipe.

The block off plate is from elite diesel and is 1/8 steel plate punched to create the pefect fit between the up pipe and the egr cooler not allowing any exhaust to enter the cooler. I also thaught the smell was from this but it was happening before dissasembly and checked them before installing them again but maybe need to just break down and get new ones.
