code troubles

Unhappy code troubles

lets see I have a 98 explorer E/B, 4.0 sohc with codes P0301, P0304, and P0171. just replaced all plugs and wires with motorcraft, installed new intake gaskets upper and lower, cleaned the maf and iac, and still getting the same three codes any ideas? thanks in advance, matt.

Well the P0301 is Cyl #1 misfire,P0304 isCyl#4 misfire and P0171 is System Adaptive fuel is to lean(Bank1), don't know if it helps but good luck.

Make sure you have now crossed the plug wires.

Yes it might be 1 &4 crossed and that is why it is getting the misfire.

what is the firing order 1,4,2 5,3,6 or 1,3,2 5,4,6

Have to go consult my manual, for your vehicle, I am not home so will have to get back to you.

In the mean time, cyl 1 and cyl 4 are the front of each bank, 1 being the passenger side.
