Ok guys here it go's this morning my trucks alarm went off (factory alarm) so i ran out side and shut it off. When i left later that morning the interior chime stayed on for about a minute even after the truck was running. Later in the day the alarm went off when i was at work i shut it off about two minutes later went off again . So i left the truck unlocked , never went off again . So when i left work the chime stayed on the whole way home ( 5 minutes) When i got home i realized that there seems to be a problem with the button that gets pushed in when the door closes if i push it with my finger only sometimes i hear a click and the chime stops. So im thinking the alarm went off because the truck thought the door was opened without the alarm being turned off . Does the button for the door need to be replaced or is there some kind of relay that needs to be replaced ? Sorry for the long post . Any ideas ? THANKS !
Unscrew the button from the door jam. Pull it out carefully, there are wires attached to the back. Unplug the wires and tie a piece of string or another wire to them to keep them from pulling back into the hole. Press in on the button, and use a wire brush and brake cleaner to clean it real good. After it dries, spray it down with white litheum grease (it comes in a spray can, this grease will not freeze, harden, or wash off, great for door hinges, lock plates and catches also). Plug the wires back in and re-install the button.
Disconnecting Door Chime
There's a little black noise box under the left middle of the dash. Open the door or leave the lights on and follow the sound. Once you locate the noise box, unplug it. The noise will stop. Unplugging the box will not hurt anything or disable other circuits. Next, unbolt the box. There's only one bolt. Remove the noise box and vigorously slam it onto the pavement. The last step isn’t necessary, but will insure that the noise box doesn't come back to life.
Removing the chime box will stop the chime, but if it is setting off your alarm, it will not correct that problem. The door buttons run in a circuit to both door bottons, they are gound switches. Check the one on the other door and check the wiring from both. You will have to pull your kick panels to access the wiring.
well i took it apart agained and used the white grease ....first time used wd-40... it seems to be fine now. but i'll have to see how long it lasts for . the passenger side button seems to be fine . If the problem comes back then i'll look at the wireing ...thanks for all the help PLOWHAND
