I have a problem with the exhaust on my Bronco. I have duals that dump straight out the back under the bumper, so when the rear window is rolled down, it sucks the fumes right in. This is not the real problem though. It has caused me to realize that the odor is not normal. It smells like it is running very rich, and the idle is a little rough. Also, when I put constant pressure on the accelerator, the motor seems to rev as my speed increases, and continues to rev up and down when I reach a constant speed with constant pressure on the pedal. Other than timing, any ideas on the smell? People now constantl;y tell me that I smell like gasoline!!!
Thanks a million
The exhaust coming out the back will cause the rear window to suck the exhaust in when it is open. The aerodynamics of the Bronco (like a cinder block) creat a big vacuum behind it. That is why the stock exhaust comes out behind the rear wheel.
Sounds like you are running rich. I assume you have Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI). First pull the computer codes. Go to www.broncodata.com and go to Code Pulling for a how to or find a friend that knows how or has a computer code reader for your Bronco. Running rich could be several things. Pulling the codes is where I would start. I'll watch this post for the results.
